The management of Redeemer’s University in Ede, Osun State, has denied rumors of a fire outbreak on its campus.
According to a statement by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, the fire was actually a case of bush burning near an isolated bamboo forest, which was quickly extinguished by the university community and the State Fire Service.
Akindele expressed disappointment over the spread of false information, emphasizing that there was no explosion of any transformer, as none was present at the site of the fire.
He assured stakeholders that the university prioritizes public health and safety, having acquired a large quantity of fire extinguishers.
Akindele advised people to verify facts before sharing information to avoid spreading misinformation and causing unnecessary panic.
Truth Live News reports that the university’s statement came after earlier reports claimed a fire outbreak had threatened lives and property on campus on Monday, January 27, 2025.
