Nigerian actress Regina Daniels has accused her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, of using his influence to detain her brother, in an attempt to force her back into the marriage.

In a post shared on Instagram on Friday which she later deleted, the actress alleged that her brother, Sammy West, was arrested as part of what she described as a deliberate attempt to “break her spirit”. She claimed the police, judiciary and others were involved in the situation, but did not present evidence to support her allegations.

Daniels wrote that her brother had been “remanded without justification”, adding that she believed the detention was connected to her ongoing marital dispute with the federal lawmaker.

Her comments came after reports that Sammy West was sent to Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State by a Dutse Magistrate Court. Family members claimed he was held without access to a lawyer or relatives.

In a video posted online, Sammy also alleged that he was denied communication and kept in custody without proper access to legal representation.

Subsequent posts from Daniels’ older brother indicated that Sammy had later been transferred from Keffi Prison to Suleja Prison in Niger State. His case is said to have been adjourned until 28 November 2025.

Actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie, a mentor to Daniels, condemned the development, calling it “a mockery of justice”.

The dispute between Regina Daniels and Senator Nwoko has intensified in recent weeks, following public accusations of domestic abuse from the actress. Nwoko has rejected the claims, accusing Daniels of substance abuse and fleeing from rehabilitation.

Senator Nwoko has not publicly responded to the specific allegations surrounding Sammy West’s detention at the time of this report.
