A fraudulent and unsigned protest notice titled “Anti-Bad Governance Protest and Rally” has recently surfaced, falsely attributed to Rev Olu Martins, Deputy Director General for Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a public statement, Rev Martins categorically disclaimed any connection to the notice, describing it as a deliberate act of misinformation.
Rev Martins asserted, “This statement did not emanate from me, and I have nothing to do with it.” He further stated that the notice is a strategic ploy by the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Martins, the APC, anticipating a significant defeat in the upcoming governorship election, is attempting to create grounds for the arrest of him and other PDP leaders.
“This is a ploy by the Edo State Chapter of the APC, who now know that they will lose by a landslide in a free and fair contest. They want to orchestrate my arrest and that of other members and leaders of the PDP ahead of the forthcoming governorship election,” Rev Martins stated.
Rev Martins urged the public to disregard the protest notice entirely, emphasizing that it is part of a broader effort to undermine the PDP’s electoral prospects.
