Rivers United have reclaimed its position at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kano Pillars in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Aniekeme Okon’s 31st-minute goal sealed the win for Rivers United, propelling them to the summit with 29 points from 15 matches.
In another NPFL match, Remo Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.
This loss dropped Remo Stars to second place in the standings.
Meanwhile, Ikorodu City leapfrogged to third position after thrashing Akwa United 4-1 in Lagos.
Tosin Oyedokun, Emmanuel Solomon, Ayomide Olatunji, and Ayomide Cole scored the goals for Ikorodu City.
