Abia state Governor Alex Otti, has warned he will not tolerate littering and dumping of refuse on the roadsides and drainages across the state.
The warning came after his visit to Aba to inspect the ongoing road projects at Port Harcourt Road, Old Court Road, Ndoki Road and Omuma Road, South East Nigeria.
Also, Governor Otti promised to give households and business owners waste bins after the roads construction is completed.
Accordingly, “the construction will extend to the Good Morning Market, Old Court Road and adjoining streets,” said the Governor.

He announced plans to dualise Omuma Road and link it with Old Express Road, Cemetery and Osusu Roads.
However, Otti planned activation of “dualise roads once he completed relocation of electricity line and Ndoki Road construction in record time.
Truth Live News gathered that the governor impressed with the progress of work on Port Harcourt Road.
Via his X handle Governor Otti said they expected a marked improvement on the road before this year’s rainy season.

He wrote: “The contractor, Julius Berger Plc, has assured that the road will be ready for use by December 2024.
“We are grateful to residents of Aba, who welcomed us and expressed their appreciation for the work we are doing.”
He continued: “We appreciate their cooperation and kindness to the contractors and workers.
“They have demonstrated that they are true partners in progress and development,” he explained.

Nevertheless, they seized the opportunity to appeal to residents to maintain good sanitary habits, keep their environment clean and healthy.
“As we complete these roads, we will not tolerate littering and dumping of refuse on the roadsides or in drainages.”
Meanwhile, “We are providing waste bins for households and business owners, so they can dispose of their waste properly.”
