SOUTH KOREA – A tragic incident unfolded in South Korea as a man in his 40s lost his life when a robot, mistakenly identifying him as a box, crushed him.
The worker was examining the robot’s sensor at an agricultural warehouse in South Gyeongsand province, as reported by South Korea media.
According to the Yonhap news agency, the robot, engaged in lifting bell pepper boxes, tragically misidentified the man, leading its mechanical arm to push his upper body onto a conveyor belt, resulting in fatal injuries to his face and chest.
Despite efforts, he succumbed to the injuries at the hospital.
This unfortunate event follows a similar incident in March, highlighting the need for a precise and secure system, as emphasized by the Donggoseong Export Agricultural Complex, which owns the facility.
