Desmond Gudyu, a security guard with a private security company in Lagos state, has been arrested for allegedly punching his ‘tenant’, Akeem Nuhu, to death during an altercation on Lugard Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
According to reports, Desmond, who was employed to guard a building in the area, was said to have accommodated Nuhu in his security post on an agreement that the latter will pay him rent. However, both men fell out on Monday, October 10, after Nuhu who worked as a motor boy in a pure water company, failed to pay the agreed sum.
Desmond is said to have asked Nuhu for the ”rent” but he failed to provide it as promised. An altercation ensued and this degenerated into a fight. Desmond is said to have punched Nuhu. He fell and became unconscious.. He was rushed to a police hospital at Falomo where he died the following day October 11 in the morning.
His corpse has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre’s mortuary, Ebute-Metta where autopsy will be carried out.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect has been taken into custody and is being investigated.
