NIGERIA, DELTA – Delta State’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, is under fire after offering a job and vacation package to Comfort Emmanson, a recently released inmate from Kirikiri Prison.
In a Facebook post, Ossai described Emmanson as deserving of a break and invited her to Delta State “to unwind.” He also announced a secured job opportunity for her with a monthly salary of ₦500,000, a complimentary flight, a five-star hotel stay, and a ticket to the upcoming Delta Social Media Summit on August 28.
“I’m offering Comfort Emmanson a complimentary trip to Delta State… a job opportunity has been secured for her,” Ossai wrote. He added that “all expenses” would be covered and urged anyone in contact with her to tell her to message him directly.

His announcement quickly drew criticism, with many questioning the ethical implications of such a public offer. Critics accused Ossai of using state resources for personal motives and overlooking the needs of qualified citizens.
“You need to lavish Delta State money,” one user, Ojugbeli Nalu, commented. “The governor employ you to do so?”
Another, Chukwuemeka Augustine, questioned Ossai’s priorities: “Your family members and relatives begging for work, you ignore them… but woman don show, you turn philanthropist.”

Some responses suggested the offer was not about rehabilitation but attraction. “All this for only her? Make I no hear say your relatives dey suffer o,” wrote Salisu Dauda.
Others criticized the performative nature of the gesture. “You see your life… many intelligent graduates still riding Keke in your village,” Mary Nwachuku stated.
Despite backlash, Ossai has not retracted his offer or addressed public concerns. The situation raises broader questions about the use of public influence for personal gestures and the ethics of selective philanthropy.
While Ossai claims Emmanson “won’t be disappointed,” many argue that governance should prioritize fairness over spectacle, especially in a state battling unemployment and youth disillusionment.
