The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu has disclosed that himself and former Governor of Zamfara State Abdulaziz Yari would join for to oust the Godswill Akpabio in the tussle for the position of the next president and deputy of Senate.
Earlier, All Progressives Congress (APC) had declared Godswill Akpabio and Barau Jibrin as its preferred candidates for
Senate President and Deputy, respectively.
However, the former governor of Abia State while speaking with newsmen in Abuja revealed that sponsors and supporters were on ground.
According to him, the details of his partnership with Yari would be unveiled soon.
His words: “We won’t disappoint Nigerians. We are capable of representing ourselves. Yari-Kalu or Kalu-Yari won’t disappoint Nigerians. We will give Nigerians what they require, and the Nigerian people won’t be disappointed.”
Meanwhile, Kalu while emphasizing that won’t step down for anybody, insisted that the move was to ensure that only the most popular candidate emerges as leader of the next Senate.
He also noted that the partnership would consult exhaustively.
