Senate President Godswill Akpabio has dismissed reports of an impeachment plot against him, describing it as the handiwork of “merchants of political tar brush”.
He said that these reports, which were published in some newspapers over the weekend, seem to be a coordinated media attack orchestrated from outside the National Assembly by individuals who are unfamiliar with the legislative process.
Akpabio who stated this in a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, emphasized that Senators are not easily swayed by insinuations.
“Senators are presently concluding their holidays in their constituencies and other places they have chosen to spend their time after the rigours of the inauguration and ministerial screening and other constructive engagements,” he said.
Akpabio then urged the media not to succumb to these conspiratorial narratives and not to tarnish the reputations they have built over time.
