The Nigerian Army have arrested two notorious kidnappers who are fond of using the mountain as their places of hideouts to detain their victims while negotiation of ransom payment is ongoing.
In an official statement posted on its X handle, the Nigerian Army revealed that the suspects, identified as Bashir Mohammed and Ismail Mohammad, were apprehended by troops from the 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN in Plateau State.
The arrests, made on Sunday, March 16, 2025, also led to the recovery of a firearm and a magazine.
Acting on intelligence reports, the troops raided a known kidnappers’ hideout at Katume Mountain in Bassa Local Government Area.
According to the statement “During the operation, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and one AK-47 magazine from the kidnappers.
“The arrested suspects are currently in custody and providing critical information to aid in further operations to track down their associates and seize more weapons.”
