Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has approved the reduction of the number of workdays for public servants from five to three days per week, following the removal of fuel subsidy that has caused an increase in the cost of transportation.

The State Head of Service, Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole, made the disclosure on Monday in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Murtala Atoyebi.

According to the Service head, the workdays reduction by the state government was a temporary palliative measure to bring some ease to workers following the fuel subsidy removal.

The statement reads: “The State Head of Service, Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole announced today that the State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has directed that the workdays be reduced from five days to three days per week for every worker.

“She directed all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the State to immediately work out a format indicating the alternating work days for each worker under them.

“The Head of Service also warned workers against abusing the gesture, noting that her office will intensify the monitoring of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the state government.”
