Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of his victory.

The minister in a statement signed by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Rasheed Olanrewaju described the court’s validation of President Tinubu’s election as a well-deserved reaffirmation of the choice made by millions of Nigerians on February 25th this year.

“On election day, Nigerians were crystal clear in their preference for President. Their resounding vote of confidence was given to President Tinubu, making him their chosen leader. This popular mandate has now received further validation from the Supreme Court, underscoring the will of the people expressed eight months ago,” she said.

She also commend the Supreme Court Justices for once again demonstrating the judiciary’s role as a stabilizing force in a democratic society.

“I have unwavering faith in the judiciary’s role as the linchpin of our democracy. Once more, the judiciary has proven itself as a stabilizing element in our democratic process through the affirmation of Mr. President’s election.

“The Supreme Court’s confirmation of President Tinubu’s electoral triumph will undoubtedly contribute to the deepening of our democracy and the expansion of our legal principles.”

She further issued a call to the primary litigants, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), urging them to collaborate with the President in propelling the nation forward.

“Now that the Supreme Court has conclusively resolved all matters related to the 2023 presidential election, I appeal to the two main litigants to unite with Mr. President for the betterment of our nation and its citizens.

“President Tinubu has outlined an ambitious road map called the Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to set our country on an irreversible path of progress. The time for politics is over, and the focus must shift to governance. Let’s work together to make Nigeria thrive!

“On behalf of the dedicated staff and leadership of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, I offer my warmest congratulations to Mr. President on this well-deserved victory,” she added.
