The streets of the capital city in Abia State were flooded today with thousands of elated supporters of Governor Alex Otti, marking a vibrant display of victory.
The joyous celebration ignited following yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling in favor of the governor. The city center pulsated with electric energy as a diverse crowd, encompassing people of all ages, families, and friends, converged on the designated rally ground, eager to express their exuberance.
Truthlive news report that the supreme court had on Friday, upheld the election of Alex Otti as governor of Abia state.
The five-member panel of justices, led by Uwani Abba-Aji, dismissed the appeal filed by Okey Ahiwe, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), deeming it as “lacking in merit”.
It also dismissed the appeal filed by Ikechi Emenike, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking to reporter in Abia State, Chief Victor Ikeji, the Mayor of Umuahia North, expressed his joy regarding the Governor’s triumph at the Apex Court.
He stated, “The protracted election process and legal challenges are behind us. Today, we commemorate closure and a renewed sense of purpose. With this Supreme Court victory, Governor Otti’s mandate is strengthened, and we can now channel all our efforts towards working collaboratively on the goals outlined in the New Abia Agenda.”
Chief of Staff to the Mayor of the Local Government, Prince Ohazurike Onyechere, emphasized that the sole agenda for the Labour Party is the Abia Agenda, asserting the unwavering support of the people of Umuahia North for the Governor.
He said, “We are here to extend our congratulations to the Governor for his triumph at the Supreme Court. As far as we are concerned, the 2023 Abia Governorship Election is concluded, and we appreciate and celebrate the Governor’s comprehensive victory.”
Transition Committee Councillor of the Local Government, Hon. Michael Ezeh, characterized the victory as the complete liberation of Abia State.
He stated, “This is a Victory Rally. After a tumultuous election process, you faced the aftermath, translated into a series of post-election cases. These were instigated by individuals who cloak themselves in the guise of fighting for Abians, yet the masses recognize their pursuit of selfish interests. Governor Alex Otti is truly a God-send.”
