There has been wiping and wailing at Evbuotubu community following the discovery of a yet-to-be identified pupil who was drowned in Benin gully erosion control site near Evbuotubu primary school in Egor Local government Area of Edo State.

Truth Live News learnt that the tragedy happened at the weekend when the victim fell into the opened tunnel, near the ‘abandoned Benin storm water project’ site at Evbuotubu quarters.

A search party deployed to fetch the little boy, could not rescue the victim from the flood, fuelling outrage among wailing residents.

An aged man, who simply gave his name as ‘Mr Osunde’, blamed the tragedy on the gully and deplorable road projects in the area during the wet season.

Truth Live News reports that the state governor, Godwin Obaseki is yet to start work on the abandoned Benin City Water Storm Project or to carry out his probe as he has earlier threatened to probe how the sum of N30 billion was spent on the project during the tenure of Adams Oshiomhole after his re-election in September 19, 2020.
