The Government of Kano state has reportedly ordered the suspension of salaries of 10,000 workers over what it described as twilight employment.
The Accountant General of the state, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, on Monday disclosed this while speaking to Journalists on the issue in Kano.
Mr Abdulsalam said the affected staff were hurriedly employed by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration.
He said that a committee has been set up to investigate their engagement into the civil service.
News Agency of Nigeria reported that the Kano Governmment has also suspended the transfers made by the previous government within the civil service.
The transfer was said to be against existing rules, adding that status quo ante should be maintained by the affected government officials.
Mr Abdulsalam was also reported to have said that the new administration will pay workers salary by 25th of every month.
He revealed that pension and gratuity would be paid to retired workers as when due.
