As campaigns heat up and aspirants make their declarations and begin their campaign tour around the 18 local government areas in Edo state, it is imperative to remain conversant with the electoral process.
Aspiring candidates vying for the coveted position are required to obtain the nomination form for N21 million, while 50 percent discount is offered to youths aged between 25 and 30.
Truth Live News gathered that the outlined timetable includes:
November 16 – December 7: Registration of old and new party members.
December 14: Deadline for the submission of ward registers to the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilization.
December 19-20: Stakeholders’ consultative meeting with the National Working Group.
January 10-16: Sales of expression of interest and ad-hoc forms for all offices.
January 17: Last day for the submission of completed expression of interest and ad-hoc forms.
January 18, 2024: Screening of aspirants for the governorship seat by the National Working Committee.
January 19-25: Sales of nomination forms for aspirants who completed and submitted their expression of interest forms.
January 27: Deadline for the submission of completed nomination forms.
February 22: Governorship primary.
February 24: Appeal on the governorship primary.
The campaigns have reached a nail biting stage and the residents cannot wait to hear their final candidates.
