A support group backing President Bola Tinubu, known as the Disciples of Jagaban, has defended upcoming national prayers led by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. The prayers aim to seek divine intervention to address Nigeria’s ongoing economic challenges.

While the event has gained support, some Nigerians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have mocked the initiative. However, Adegoke Alawuje, National Coordinator of the Disciples of Jagaban, emphasized that the economic difficulties facing President Tinubu’s administration necessitate divine support for success.

In a statement, Alawuje urged Nigerians to set aside personal biases and recognize the president’s achievements.

He described Tinubu’s policies as essential survival strategies rather than punishments, comparing him to a compassionate doctor administering necessary, though sometimes painful, treatment.

Alawuje also highlighted Tinubu’s success in reducing Nigeria’s debt service-to-revenue ratio by 32% within 17 months, calling it a “remarkable achievement.” He encouraged Nigerians to continue praying for the president, commending his bold steps toward economic recovery.
