Manchester United have turned their attention to Real Madrid. Casemiro, a Brazilian midfielder, has been named as a “alternative” to Adrien Rabiot.
United had agreed a £15 million deal to sign Juventus French international Rabiot, but it is on the verge of collapse due to personal terms.
According to The Telegraph, Casemiro is now United’s top target, but he could cost the club £50 million.
The 30-year-old was instrumental in Real Madrid’s double-winning season, in which they won both La Liga and the Champions League.
Casemiro is still regarded as a key figure at the Bernabeu, but Madrid may be tempted to sell if the price is right.
United had begun talks with Real Madrid, and a £50 million bid has been as they look to finally end their midfield crisis.
But with the Brazilian having to surrender Champions League football, and a realistic chance of winning another domestic title, their chances are slim.
