Uromi Sons and Daughters at home and in diaspora who are on Christmas vacation in the town will once again be treated to football artistry today, 26th December, 2023.
The finalists who will be slugging it out for the coveted trophy are; Agba Grammar School vs Obeidu secondary school for the first prize while the third place will be between Ebhoiyi secondary school and Obiyon secondary school.
While speaking to journalists on the finals ULMI secondary school soccer fiesta, the secretary general of the Uromi Like Minds Initiative who doubles as the chairman of the sports committee, Deacon Darlington Okpebholo Ray, assured that all is set to hold what is tagged as one of the most exciting sporting events in Uromi, the administrative headquarters of Esan north east LGA of Edo State, South-South, Nigeria.
According to the seasoned sports administrator, “the preliminary stage which was held in November, 2023 witnessed some beautiful games which attracted massive crowds to the venue at the LGA secretariat sports complex and of course this would tell you how exciting the finals would be.”
We are going to have our people who are at home during this yultide season fully entertained as these lads are highly talented and motivated, the Secretary General promised.
On his part, the Chairman of the welfare committee and vice chairman of the organization, Engr. Sebastine Osita admonished the young players to put up good behaviour on and off the pitch and see the game as an opportunity for them to showcase their skills which could see them scouted for bigger games in the future.
He announced that the winner of the tournament would be going home with the trophy and the sum of One hundred and fifty thousand naira, (N150,000). While the second and third positions would receive One hundred thousand naira. (N100,000) and Seventy Five Thousand naira (N75,000), respectively.
