A former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke has lashed out at the outgoing governor of the state Sen Ben Ayade for lying against him and apologized and ask for forgiveness.
Imoke who was speaking to a mammoth crowd of men and women comprising of party supporters and political big wigs in a town hall meeting in Calabar, said that his successor looks like he was somebody that would come and do better than him and his predecessor.
Senator Imoke said in a two minute 51 seconds footage obtained by the Truth Live New, the Itigidi born politician was caught apologizing to a crowd of party faithful who hailed him and chanted “we have forgiven you” for your mistakes.
The former Lawmaker who hails from Abi LGA in the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, South-South Nigeria said, his reasons for coming to beg for forgiveness is that because we are human beings, and he is a human being, therefore, as human beings we make mistakes.
According to him, “You know what we call the young man. He looks like he was energetic, looks like he was intelligent, and he looks like he was somebody that would come and do better than us.
He continued, “But we are human beings, I am a human being and as human beings we make mistakes.
He however justified his position, when he said, “to be a man you must have made some mistakes.
When you make mistake you ask for forgiveness.” So I am asking you to forgive me.”
Imoke complained that “What is painful to him is not that Ayade cannot perform for the past seven years in office but that he lied that he (Ayade) gave him (Imoke) 2 billion naira to sell the office of the Governor to him.
He challenged him to come and show prove of how the transaction was carried out. Saying, he is somebody we know before election, who did not have wealth before he was brought to the government house but today, he is bragging that he was a wealthy fellow.
