There was unease in Ilorin on Thursday afternoon after vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kashim Shettima, arrived into the waiting hands of Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazak.
Ostensibly, Shettima was billed to appear at the inauguration of support group for Bola Tinubu, the standard bearer of the APC.
But many say Oluomo’s coming couldn’t be accidental after a major grassroots mobiliser and special assistant to the governor, Musbau Esinrogunjo, openly defected yesterday to the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, meeting erstwhile Senate president, Bukola Saraki in the full glare of the public.
MC Oluomo is widely believed to be Tinubu’s fixer in Lagos with with a firm grip on Lagos transport workers and touts.
These people are easy recruits during elections.
Esinrogunjo, in Ilorin, is known for his grassroots contact.
There are fears among grassroots political players in Ilorin that the visit of Oluomo may mean a hostile takeover of their territory as election approaches.
