COAS Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja announced the termination of the sit-at-home directive prevalent in parts of the South East. This directive, enforced by a faction of the secessionist group Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), had paralyzed normal activities in the region.
Speaking during the Combined Second and Third Quarters COAS Conference in Abuja, Lagbaja outlined the increased efforts to combat criminal activities associated with IPOB and the Eastern Security Network.
Under Operation Udo Ka, the military, in collaboration with other stakeholders, successfully brought an end to the disruptive sit-at-home order. This directive, initiated by IPOB two years prior, involved observing a sit-at-home day every Monday until the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the group’s leader, from the custody of the Department of State Services.
