We’re Ready To Collaborate USAID To Provide Healthcare To Our People, Says Obaseki

The Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that, his government is ever ready to collaborate United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to meet the healthcare need of the people of the state.

The governor, Mr. Obaseki disclosed this through the Commissioner for Health, Dr Samuel Alli when he received USAID team, led by Angela Agwalye.

Obaseki appreciated the partner for their projects and support towards the people of the state.

He appealed to the partner to provide the ministry with more data and be specific, saying specific target driven programme is the key, so as to be on same page when the state wants to make interventions.

Earlier, USAID team lead, Angela Agwalye thanked the Commissioner for the opportunity granted them to be in the ministry.

Angela said their visit to the Ministry is to formally introduce all the USAID funded projects to the state government, saying the project which has started few years back but haven’t had the opportunity to formally introduce all projects to the state government.

She said the USAID team, is in the state to look into current transition programmes on going and to understand the status of the transition programmes which USAID has taken over.

She said, also their visit is to provide immediate support and guidance to the team on ground as much as possible, to ensure there is no interruption in HIV treatment services that is being provided to our clients and other services within the HIV key population programmes in the state.

She further said, with the new key population programme, it brings about four projects USAID is funding in the state.
