In bid to connect the riverine coastal communities with other parts of the state, Governor Nysom Wike of Rivers state has flagged off construction of roads and overhead bridges, a project witnessed for the first time in the history of the state.

Truthlive.net gathered that the project is meant to establish an inter-community linkage and improve easy accessibility, especially for coastal areas that depend on water for transportation.

In a post on Wike’s Facebook page, the governor uploaded the pictures of the project with caption:

“The Trans Kalabari road is a construction feat across our swamps and river to give road access for the first time ever to some of our beautiful Island communities in Kalabari Land.

“The 13.599km Phase 1 which connects Krakrama, Angulama and other riverine communities is being constructed by Lubric Constrution Company.

“We flagged it off on the 24st of June 2021 and we expect it to be complete before the end of the year”, Mr Wike wrote
