2023: Tension In Atiku’s Camp As Wike’s Camp Meet In Enugu Over Support For Peter Obi

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and other Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, met in Enugu State ahead of the upcoming presidential election.

According to Daily Post, an inside source whose identity is not disclosed, revealed that their discussion centred on how to deliver the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi in 2023.

Makinde, Ikpeazu, Wike, Ortom, Ugwuanyi

The Governors are: Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ikeazu of Abia State and the host Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

According to the insider, the five governors were moved to back Peter Obi’s candidacy because they are not comfortable with the PDP flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.

Truthlive.net resolved that the decision of the governors may not be unconnected to the crisis rocking the main opposition party.

The crisis, which was birthed by the insensitive approach of the chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu and Atiku to Wike and his team’s agitations, which is no other but the call for the resignation of the chairman over his financial recklessness and the need for the south to have a representation in the top hierarchy of the party.

The insensitivity of the presidential flag bearer of the party to their demands has caused the crisis rocking the party to degenerate into its current unpleasant state despite efforts by party stakeholders to resolve the issue.
