Kano State Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Gwani Shehu Wada Sagagi, has distributed 10 bicycles to junior staff of his ministry, fully funded from his own pocket.
The presentation took place at the ministry’s headquarters in Kano this week, coinciding with the commissioner marking his first year in office.

Sagagi described the initiative as a way to motivate employees facing transportation hardships due to high fuel prices, which have significantly increased commuting costs for many public servants.
“This is to appreciate your dedication and hard work,” Sagagi said during the event. “We plan to distribute another 10 bicycles soon.”

The move has elicited praise from recipients and ministry officials. Staff members expressed gratitude for the practical support, noting that the bicycles would help alleviate daily transport burdens in the current economic climate.
The administration director commended the commissioner’s thoughtful approach, highlighting its potential to enhance staff commitment and productivity despite ongoing financial pressures.
However, public reactions have been mixed, with some questioning the scale and long-term impact of the donation in addressing broader economic challenges faced by workers.
