The Nasarawa State leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its state chairman, Godwin Alaku Williams, following allegations of anti-party conduct.
In a statement, the party’s state publicity secretary, Idris Ojoko, said the suspension came after a petition accusing Alaku of actions that undermined party unity. The claims include failing to recognise the national leadership, refusing to integrate coalition members, and reporting party leaders to security agencies.
Alaku has been placed on a 14-day suspension while a disciplinary committee investigates the matter. Barrister Paul Magaji Ajeh has been appointed acting state chairman, and Umar Babayaro will serve as acting secretary. The committee is chaired by Barrister Hassan Yakubu.
Reacting to the decision, Alaku rejected the suspension, calling it invalid. He questioned the legitimacy of those behind the action and accused them of attempting to weaken the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections. He maintained that he remains the state chairman until the end of his tenure later this year.
