The Edo State Government has announced a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance, improving service delivery and enhancing efficiency in the administration of state affairs.
The announcement was made in an official statement dated 29 January 2026, signed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., Secretary to the State government and approved by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
According to the statement: “It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved a minor reshuffle in the Edo State Executive Council as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, enhance service delivery, and promote greater efficiency in the administration of state affairs.”
As part of the reshuffle, Vincent Osas Uwadiaye, who previously served as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Lands and Housing as Commissioner.
The former Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, has been appointed Chief of Staff to the Governor, taking over responsibilities at the Governor’s Office.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Chief of Staff, Gani Audu, has been nominated to resume duties as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
The government said the changes will take effect from January 30, 2026.
Governor Okpebholo said he is confident the adjustments will strengthen governance in the state.
“His Excellency expresses confidence that these strategic adjustments will further enhance coordination, policy implementation, and effective governance in Edo State.”
