The Director of Contact and Mobilization of the Diaspora, Labour Party (Dr) Patrick Osagie Eholor, yesterday, called on the supporters of the Presidential Candidate of the party, Peter Obi, not to embark on protest march following the outcome of the Saturday Polls but to continue to come out enmass to exercise their civic rights for a prosperous Nigeria.
He made the appeal while speaking with the Truth Live News in Benin on the outcome of the Saturday Polls across the 36 states of the country.
Eholor, otherwise known as Ultimate equals and President One Love Foundation, said the just concluded elections was a sham and fell short of what was promised Nigerians by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu.
“I think there were no elections. I think it will be disgraceful if I have to tell anybody in Canada when I return to my second home that we conducted elections in Nigeria.
“It was a sham and a betrayal of democracy.
“I felt very bad and pitied for those our brothers and sisters, grand mothers, our parents who were in the sun to ensure that they exercise their civic rights but Mahmoud Yakubu, the INEC commission has spent N350 billion for nothing.
” He has promised us, he repeated himself 64 times that he is going to transmit the results through the BVAS but unfortunately, he went back to do what they used to do by rigging us out manually but I tell my people to exercise patience and not to go out there to protest because the more we are in numbers, the more we will succeed.
“Their plan is to kill more Obidient people, to terrorize us.
” We are not going to fall into that category .
“So, I think honestly, it was really a betray for everybody and I think today, it looks as if the soul of Nigeria was lost because nobody is celebrating even in Abuja where he thought he is going to be the number one citizen is cold even in Benin where I am reporting from, everybody is sad as if somebody died in the family.
“So, I think I will beg the Obidient people to go out enmassly to continue to vote, to exercise their civic responsibilities because if we do not vote, you cannot criticize government if they do not do your roads, if you do not have schools, if you do not have hospitals, so you have to vote otherwise, we will have these criminal elements to continue to dictate for us, continue to enslave us.
“So, we have told them now that we are not their slaves that we can have the strength to exercise our rights, we have proven that, so, I think for us, even if it is a sad day, it is a victory for the Obidients”, Eholor said.
