The Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission {NPC}, Mrs Gloria Izonfuo, has regained freedom after five days in Kidnappers’ den.
The Rivers State police command confirmed her release via its spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko on Friday morning.
Mrs Izonfuo, a former Bayelsa Head of Servics was abducted alonside her driver and maid by unknown gunmen along Ogbakiri axis of the East-West Road in Rivers State last Sunday in which they demanded 500m ransom.
According to reports, the commissioner was abducted at the Ogbakiri junction in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State while returning from a trip in Brass, Bayelsa.
She said, “Yes, she was released this morning (Friday). An investigation is still ongoing to apprehend the kidnappers and make them face justice.”
Iringe-Koko, however, did not confirm if the driver and maid were freed alongside Mrs Izonfuo or if any ransom was paid for her release.
