Ahead of the May 29 inauguration, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has called upon Nigerians to support President-elect Bola Tinubu to ensure for the the smooth transition.

Wike who made the call while speaking with newsmen after meeting with Tinubu at the Defence House in Abuja on Friday, emphasized that the days for politics are over.

Truth Live News reports that, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the February 15 presidential election.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) closely followed behind.

Wike, a top PDP chieftain was said to have worked Tinubu instead of his party’s candidate during the presidential poll.

He said, “Elections have come and gone. The winner has emerged and therefore is it necessary for all Nigerians to give him the necessary support for the interest of Nigeria.”

“I am confident that he has what it takes to turn Nigeria around.

The Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde who accompanied Wike during the visit in his remark said, “I came here to basically pay homage to the President-elect and to let him know that elections are over and this is time for governance and we would do our best to give him support for the good governance of Nigeria,” the Oyo governor noted.

Recall that Wike and other members of the PDP G-5 parted ways over disagreement on who to support for the presidency.

While they insisted that the position should return to southern Nigeria after eight years of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, there was confusion as to whether support Tinubu or Obi.

Samuel Ortom of Benue State supported Labour Party’s Obi but later lost his senatorial bid during the February 15 poll.
