Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti State, has declined an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with a money laundering probe.

Recall that the EFCC had given Fayemi an invitation letter dated May 12, 2023.

According to the letter, the Commission stated that explanations from Fayemi were required as part of the investigation.

The announcement also revealed that Fayemi’s scheduled interview with the EFCC will take place on May 18, 2023.

However, Fayemi, who had acknowledged receipt of the commission’s letter through his legal representatives, stated that he would be unavailable for the interview on that day.

The former Minister of Solid Minerals indicated that he would be involved in the presentation and launch of two new books in honour of President Muhammadu Buhari.
