The former Executive Governor of Benue state, Sen. George Akume, has officially assumed office as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Akume’s assumption of office took place on Wednesday after being sworn-in by the president Ahmed Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
Shortly after he was administered the Oath of Office and Allegiance, President Tinubu said via his official Twitter handle that it was with great pleasure that he administered oath of office to him.
“It was with great pleasure that I, today, administered Oath of Office and Allegiance to Senator George Akume to mark his official assumption of office as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” Tinubu said.
“As a distinguished public servant who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and a deep understanding of the workings of government,” the president said he has no doubt that Senator Akume’s service in the new position will be to the benefit of our nation.
Born 27th Dec. 1953, you will recall that Senator George Akume,former Executive Governor of Benue state, is a successful career Civil Servant.
Sen. Akume is an accomplished Administrator, politician, and a member of the Great Tender Hall of Fame, University of Ibadan.
