Drama Intensifies as Police Transfer TikToker Mirabel to Women Affairs Ministry

The Ogun State Police Command has released TikTok user, Abigail Nsikak, popularly known as Mirabel, to the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development as investigations into her rape allegation continue.

Mirabel first captured public attention after posting alarming videos on TikTok, alleging she was sexually assaulted in her home on February 15. The clips sparked widespread concern and drew a response from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), which later clarified that the alleged incident occurred in Ogun State, placing it outside their jurisdiction.

The situation grew confusing when rumors spread on social media that Mirabel had been arrested by the Ogun State Police.

In an official update via Twitter, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, clarified that Mirabel was not arrested. She had voluntarily visited the police to report the incident, underwent a medical examination, and has been cooperating with investigators.

According to him, “considering her welfare and psychosocial needs, she was released into the care of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, which has assumed responsibility for her well-being and assured authorities of her availability as investigations continue“.

Police also urged the public to avoid speculation and allow due process, assuring that the case is being handled with professionalism and sensitivity.

The case has continued to generate debate on social media, particularly after social activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, released an audio recording allegedly featuring Mirabel. Authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the recording, and investigations are ongoing.
