Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has warned the public about a rise in scams involving individuals pretending to represent the company, its executives, or members of the Dangote family.
In a statement shared on the company’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, DIL said:
“Dangote Industries Limited is aware of increasing cases of fraud and impersonation by people claiming to act on behalf of the company, its leadership, or members of the Dangote family.”
The company noted that scammers have been using fake investment offers, business proposals, charity solicitations, job offers, and other schemes to defraud unsuspecting individuals.
DIL clarified that neither the company, its Group President Aliko Dangote, executives—including the Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations (Oil & Gas)—nor family members Fatima, Mariya, and Halima Aliko Dangote request funds, contracts, or personal information through WhatsApp, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, or any other social media platform.
“For clarity, they do not even have Facebook or TikTok accounts,” the statement added.
The company stressed that official communications are only made through verified corporate channels and recognised media outlets, urging the public to ignore unsolicited messages, calls, or social media contacts claiming affiliation with DIL.
DIL also reassured that it is working with law enforcement agencies to track and prosecute those behind these scams.
“Dangote Industries Limited remains committed to protecting its brand and ensuring the safety of Nigerians. Anyone receiving suspicious communications should report them immediately to the appropriate authorities,” the statement concluded.
