NIGERIA, ABUJA – The Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission will commence physical and credential screening for 2025/2026 applicants on March 9, 2026.

The Cross River State Police Command announced the development in a press release signed by its spokesperson on Thursday in Calabar.

Authorities said the exercise will run from Monday, March 9, to Saturday, April 18, 2026.

Officials scheduled the screening to hold daily from 7:00 a.m. at the Police Officers’ Mess, Moore Road, Calabar.

The Command directed all applicants who completed online registration to appear strictly on assigned dates.

It clarified that only indigenes of Cross River State who applied as General Duty and Specialist Police Constables qualify.

Police authorities emphasized strict compliance with dress code and documentation requirements during the screening process.

According to the statement, applicants must appear in clean white T-shirts and white shorts without exception.

They must also arrange required documents neatly in two white flat files before arrival.

The Command warned that candidates who fail to present mandatory documents will face automatic disqualification.

Mandatory Documents and Screening Conditions

The Police listed two recent passport photographs as part of compulsory screening requirements.

Applicants must present evidence of physical and mental fitness from a government-recognized medical hospital.

Officials also demanded a Certificate of Origin signed by a Local Government Chairman or Secretary.

The Command required original and duplicate copies of the National Identity Card or NIN slip.

Candidates must provide original and duplicate copies of their O’Level results during verification.

They must submit a Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age as proof of identity.

The screening panel will request a printed copy of the completed application form.

Applicants must also provide a duly completed Guarantor’s Form and invitation slip.

The Command stressed that no candidate will proceed without full documentation compliance.

Police authorities reiterated that the recruitment process remains free of charge nationwide.

“The recruitment screening process is completely free of charge and will be conducted strictly on merit,” the Command stated.

It added that the Force maintains professionalism, transparency, and accountability throughout the exercise.

Officials urged members of the public to report any demand for gratification or inducement.

The spokesperson, ASP Eitokpah Sunday, MNISMA, signed the release for the Commissioner of Police.

He advised candidates to adhere strictly to guidelines and avoid misinformation circulating online.

Security experts note that transparent recruitment strengthens institutional credibility and public trust.

A senior police source confirmed that monitoring teams will supervise the exercise independently.

The source added that officers will enforce discipline firmly but fairly across screening centers.

Command Refutes Political Intimidation Claims in Ogoja

Meanwhile, the Cross River State Police Command dismissed allegations of political intimidation involving the Area Commander in Ogoja.

The clarification followed reports accusing the officer of disrupting a political gathering in the area.

In a separate press statement dated February 27, 2026, the Command described the allegation as unfounded.

“The allegation is unfounded and does not reflect the true situation,” the statement declared.

Police authorities explained that a defection rally coincided with the APC Local Government Congress election.

The rally was reportedly organized by former Ogoja LGA Vice Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Idi Yakubu.

According to the Command, both events were scheduled at the same location and date.

Police advised organizers to reschedule the rally to prevent tension and possible confrontation.

However, organizers allegedly insisted on proceeding despite security advice.

During the rally, participants reportedly blocked a major highway, disrupting vehicular movement.

Security personnel deployed smoke canisters to disperse the crowd and restore public order.

Authorities arrested eleven persons during the disturbance and released them on bail same day.

The Command stated that officers acted under directives from the Commissioner of Police.

It maintained that the intervention aimed solely at preserving public safety and lawful political engagement.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains neutral and committed to enforcing the law while protecting all citizens,” the statement affirmed.

Observers say situational ethics require law enforcement to balance political rights with public safety.

A legal practitioner in Calabar noted that police must prevent clashes without infringing constitutional freedoms.

He added that simultaneous political activities in one venue pose serious security risks.

Residents expressed mixed reactions, with some supporting police action and others questioning tactics used.

However, the Command maintained that its officers followed operational guidelines and proportional response measures.

Security analysts argue that neutrality remains critical during politically sensitive periods.

The Command reiterated its commitment to impartial policing across Cross River State.

Commitment to Transparency and Public Safety

Police leadership assured residents that recruitment and political policing remain separate operations.

Officials emphasized that screening exercises will proceed without interference from political considerations.

They urged applicants and political actors to cooperate fully with security directives.

Authorities promised to investigate credible complaints through established channels.

The Command reaffirmed that professionalism guides its actions during recruitment and political engagements.

It encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and report misconduct promptly.

Security stakeholders insist that public cooperation strengthens law enforcement effectiveness statewide.

The Police concluded that maintaining order remains essential for democratic stability and institutional integrity.

For detailed schedules and updates, applicants and residents should monitor official police communication channels.
