BREAKING: Defence Minister Summons Service Chiefs Over Deadly Terrorist Attacks on Military Bases

The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has convened an urgent security meeting with Nigeria’s top military commanders following a series of deadly attacks on military bases in the North-East region of the country.

The high-level meeting, currently taking place at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja, brought together key figures within Nigeria’s security architecture to deliberate on the worsening security situation and chart a renewed strategy against insurgent groups operating in the region.

Among those attending the crucial meeting are the Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, and the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu.

Also present are the Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Aneke; the Chief of Naval Staff, Idi Abass; as well as representatives of the National Intelligence Agency and other critical security institutions.

According to findings by Truth Live News, the emergency meeting follows a wave of recent terrorist attacks on military installations in Borno State, which reportedly claimed the lives of several senior military officers.

Sources revealed that no fewer than three Commanding Officers holding the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel were recently killed during the attacks. In addition to the fallen officers, several soldiers also paid the supreme price in fierce confrontations with the terrorists.

The attacks have also left hundreds of civilians abducted by insurgents, raising fresh concerns about the safety of communities in the conflict-ravaged North-East.

Speaking briefly before the meeting proceeded into a closed-door session, Defence Minister Musa acknowledged the casualties recorded by the armed forces but maintained that the military had also inflicted heavy losses on the insurgents.

“We know we have recorded some casualties, but it is more on the side of terrorists,” the retired four-star General said.
