The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded another political boost in the House of Representatives of Nigeria as four lawmakers formally defected from their respective parties to join the ruling party.
Three of the lawmakers dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while one member left the Labour Party (LP) to align with the APC.
Those who defected from the PDP include Mohammed Audu, who represents the Karim Lamido/Lau/Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency of Taraba State; Abdullahi El-Rasheed, representing the Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State; and Inuwa Garuba, who represents the Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency, also in Gombe State.
Similarly, Joshua Chinedu Obika, the lawmaker representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, formally defected from the Labour Party to the APC.
The defections were officially announced during plenary, signaling another shift in the political alignment within the lower legislative chamber. The lawmakers cited political realignment and the need to work more closely with the ruling party as part of the reasons for their decision.
