Nigeria’s Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, laid the foundation stone for the construction of 40 modern toilets at Alheri Leprosy Colony in Yangoji Kwali Area Council, FCT, Abuja.

Dr. Edu was ably represented by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Rasheed Olanrewaju , who highlighted the government’s commitment to the disabilities community, echoing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Emphasizing the President’s perspective, he stated that individuals with disabilities are regarded not as disabled but as possessing special abilities.

In a statement made available to Truth Live News, Dr. Edu assured the community that 10 percent of all social intervention programs had been approved for persons with disabilities, emphasizing their integral role in society. She expressed eagerness for the project’s timely completion, reflecting President Tinubu’s dedication to empowering individuals with disabilities.

Dr. James David Lalu, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, affirmed the completion target of two months. He extended gratitude to President Tinubu for fulfilling campaign promises and praised Dr. Edu for her commitment to ending neglect of the disabled community.

Alhaji Muhammed Abah Isah, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Disabilities, lauded the Renewed Hope Agenda for prioritizing persons with disabilities. He emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive development and condemned societal stigmatization of the disabled.

Ibrahim Aminu Masari, the representative of the FCT Minister, reassured Yangoji of its inclusion in the developmental agenda. Various speakers, including Dr. Sani Umar and Alhaji Dikko Dogo, commended President Tinubu and Minister Edu for fulfilling promises, fostering inclusivity, and driving positive change.
