A group, Gwoza Elite Forum, has called on the governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, to extend his kind gestures to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Ohogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The group made the call when it visited the camp in Edo State.
Speaking before the inmates, president of the group, Mr. Ibrahim Emmanuel Mbitsa, said they have heard about the academic feats of the inmates from the camp in various universities especially the recent one where one of them graduated with a First Class in Chemical Engineering and others too with flying colours.
He said the inmates though residents in Edo State but are from Borno State adding that it will not be nice that having heard of their academic exploits that they could not also come and celebrate them.
Mbitsa said though they are not happy that their people are displaced due to insurgency but prays that it should be a thing of the past soon so that they all can return to their state and continue with their normal life.
The president of the group, while appreciating the governor of Edo State for providing a friendly environment for the inmates in the state to thrive both in their academic pursuit and otherwise, called on the Borno State governor,
Babagana Umara Zulum to come to the help of the inmates as he is doing in other states and outside the country.
He said the inmates in Edo State are sons and daughters of Borno State from Gwoza Local Government Area, so he should not abandon them in times of their needs.
“So, at this junction, I want to call on the executive governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum. I know the governor used to do good for the state and I heard that the pastor sent a letter to the state government in respect of some indigenes of Borno State so that the governor of Borno State will come to their help and I don’t know if the letter got to him but I know that he is an expert, he always have heart for people going through this kind of issue, we have seen him in Cameroon, we have seen him in Niger, we have seen him in Chad, in various IDP camps. I call on the executive governor, Babagana Zulum to please sir, come to attend to these our own people, they are your own indigenes sir.
“Pastor is trying his best but we want you to make sure that we have some other persons with him so that these our people will return back home”, Mbitsa said
On the part of the camp coordinator, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, he thanked the leader of the forum for leading them to the camp.
He said the successes recorded in the camp and in the lives of the inmates were made possible through the efforts of well meaning Nigerians who have always contributed in one way or the other towards the lives of the inmates.
He also thanked the Edo State government and the people of the state for being so kind to the inmates in the camp in the state.
Folurunsho called for help from the governor of Borno State and other good spirited individuals so that they can meet all their need, academically and otherwise.
Amos Ishiaku, an inmate who graduated with First Class in Chemical Engineering and Saminu Abacha, best law graduating student, both from the Edo State University, Uzairue, shared their thoughts and called for more assistance to the camp from the Borno State governor and from well meaning Nigerians.
