Breaking: Aduda Dumps PDP, Cites Deepening Crisis in Party

Former senator who represented the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Tanimu Aduda, has formally resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party, citing the lingering crisis within the opposition party as the reason for his departure.

Aduda, who served three consecutive terms representing the Federal Capital Territory in the Senate during the 7th, 8th and 9th National Assemblies between 2011 and 2023, conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated March 17, 2026.

The letter was addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Karu Ward, Abuja, formally notifying the party of his immediate withdrawal from its membership.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party,” the former lawmaker stated in the brief notice.

Despite his decision to exit the party, Aduda expressed appreciation for the opportunities he received while serving under the PDP platform, noting that the party had given him the chance to hold various elective positions in the country.

“I remain grateful for the opportunity the party gave me to serve in various elective positions in our nation,” the letter added.

Aduda’s resignation comes at a time when the PDP continues to grapple with internal disagreements and leadership disputes that have triggered uncertainty within the party’s ranks.
