Nigerian singer, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has agreed to settle out of court, the breach of contract suit filed against him at a Delta State High Court sitting in Effurun by the Amaju Pinnick-led Brownhill Investment Company Limited
Recall that in November 2023, The former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, took legal action against Davido, accusing the artist of cyberbullying and defamation of character.
This was as a result of a contract breach by Davido, whereby the musician failed to show up for an event he was paid to perform.
It was learnt that he was absent from the Warri event because he fixed another show in Australia (Melbourne) on the same day, 6 October.
After failing to attend the event, Pinnick addressed and apologised to the event attendees in Warri, explaining to them that all contractual obligations and payments to secure the attendance of the artist were met but he still failed to show up.
Not long after, Davido took to his social media handles of Instagram, Snapchat and X reacting to Pinnick.
Pinnick thereafter, said the posts made by Davido against him were incendiary and that since then his life and that of his immediate family have been in grave danger and threat of physical bodily harm, injury and attacks. So he sued the artist.
In a bid to resolve the case out of court, Davido agreed to within seven days of execution of the terms of the settlement, pay the sum of N30 million to the Pinnick, being a part contribution to Pinnick’s outstanding legal fees in this suit.
As part of the out-of-court settlement, the Davido agreed to perform live at the ‘Warri Again 2024 Concert’ slated for October 4, 2024 in Warri, Delta State.
