Respites As Edo Deputy Gov.Omobayo Visits Affected Communities Wrecked By Windstorm, Donates Relief Materials

Respites has come the way of the people of Lampese, Ibilo and other neighbouring towns in the locality in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State as the State Deputy Governor, Engr Godwins Marvellous Omobayo, on behalf of Governor Godwin Obaseki, visited them and donated relief materials to households destroyed by windstorm in that local government.

The windstorm swept the communities of Lampese, Ibilo and other neighbouring towns in the locality.

The timely response of Edo State Government was activated with relief materials delivered by the Deputy Governor to cushion the effects of the disaster.

Omobayo paid an on-the-spot-assessment to the community to know the extent of the damage on their property.

He also paid a visit to the sites and location of property destroyed by the windstorm.

The properties include electric poles, cables, transformer and community market – all in Lampese.

Others were Uke Primary School and houses belonging to indigenes of Lampese and Ibillo communities.

The Deputy Governor described the situation as a natural disaster, stating that over 108 buildings were affected.

While presenting a total of 150 bags of rice and mattresses to the affected victims, Omobayo charged Edo State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA and National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA to come up with a comprehensive report of the properties destroyed and number of victims affected to enable the State Government provide the needed support to ameliorate the plight of the victims .

Also speaking, the chairman of the local government area, Hon Tajudeen Alade, thanked the State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki for his quick response.
