Russia has rejected claims that it is preparing to send drones to Iran, describing the reports as false.
According to Moscow time news, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement while speaking to reporters during a daily briefing on Thursday.
Mr Peskov said media reports suggesting Moscow was close to completing a delivery were “lies” and should be ignored.
His comments came in response to a report by the Financial Times, which cited Western intelligence officials as saying Russia was in the process of delivering drones to Tehran. The report claimed the shipments could be completed by the end of March.
Russia and Iran are close allies, but Moscow insists it has not provided military assistance to Tehran since the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran earlier this year.
“There are so many lies being spread by the media,” Mr Peskov told reporters, urging the public not to pay attention to such claims.
However, separate reporting by the The Washington Post earlier this month suggested that Russia had shared sensitive intelligence with Iran, including information about the location of US warships and aircraft in the region.
The conflicting accounts highlight growing tensions and uncertainty surrounding the relationship between Moscow and Tehran, particularly as the conflict involving Iran continues to draw international concern.
