Just In: Kano Deputy Governor Resigns

The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, has resigned from office amid mounting political tension and impeachment proceedings initiated by the Kano State House of Assembly.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, who said the decision was taken in the “overall interest of the people and the stability of governance” in the state.

Abdussalam’s resignation comes days after a Federal High Court sitting in Kano dismissed his application seeking to halt the impeachment process, effectively allowing the state assembly to continue its proceedings against him.

According to the statement, the deputy governor described his resignation as a difficult but necessary step to ensure the smooth functioning of governance.
