Scott McConnell, founding editor of The American Conservative, has suggested that JD Vance should consider invoking the Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution to remove Donald Trump from office.
McConnell made the statement in a post on X, advising the vice president to support a constitutional transition of power. The amendment allows the vice president, alongside a majority of the Cabinet, to declare a sitting president unfit to continue in office.
He further proposed that Vance could appoint Chris Murphy or a similar figure as deputy, while committing not to run in the 2028 presidential election. According to McConnell, such a move would require clear communication to the public to justify its necessity.
