Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has ruled out withdrawing from the 2027 presidential election in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other political party.

Kwankwaso maintained that the NDC presidential ticket, popularly known as the “OK ticket,” featuring Peter Obi as the presidential candidate, remained committed to contesting the election and had no intention of stepping aside for another party.

The former Kano State governor also dismissed allegations that the NDC was secretly working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the claims as baseless attempts to undermine the party’s presidential ambition.

In a statement published on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, Kwankwaso accused the ADC Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) of abandoning issue-based politics and resorting to attacks against him, Obi and the NDC leadership.

He further expressed concern that reports suggesting a possible last-minute withdrawal by the NDC could be deliberately circulated to mislead supporters and weaken confidence in the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the election.

“Let me state clearly and unequivocally: we will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence, and readiness to lead Nigeria,” he said.

Kwankwaso insisted that the NDC had no political arrangement with the APC or any of its candidates, stressing that there was no basis for the party to abandon its presidential ambition in favour of the ADC.

“The OK ticket is neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates. There is neither a reason nor any possibility of withdrawing in favour of the ADC candidate,” he stated.

He urged party members and supporters to disregard claims suggesting that the NDC would step down and instead intensify efforts to mobilise support for its presidential ticket.

The NDC chieftain also challenged the ADC campaign organisation to address allegations reportedly made against its presidential candidate by Vice-President Kashim Shettima rather than focusing its criticism on the NDC leadership.

According to Kwankwaso, neither the APC-led administration nor the ADC offers the political alternative needed to tackle Nigeria’s numerous challenges.

He maintained that the NDC had developed a programme aimed at promoting national unity, economic recovery and sustainable development.

He listed insecurity, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and economic recovery among the major priorities of the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket.

Kwankwaso expressed confidence in the NDC’s capacity, credibility and nationwide support, arguing that the party was prepared to implement its agenda and address divisions across the country.

He concluded by calling on party members, supporters and other Nigerians who share the party’s vision to remain committed to its campaign and work towards its success in the 2027 presidential election.

“I therefore urge all our supporters and well-meaning Nigerians to continue working toward the victory of our great party,” he said.
“Nigeria will be OK,” Kwankwaso added.
