Pastor Conducts Wedding for Autistic Man After Online Backlash

A Nigerian pastor and founder of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has officiated the marriage of a young autistic man, identified as Aboy Chibuzor, to an older single woman.

The wedding ceremony took place on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the church, following widespread backlash over a viral video in which the cleric had earlier sought a wife for the man.

Aboy is non verbal and requires assistance with daily activities. According to the pastor, he was abandoned as a child at the church gate and has since been raised under his care.

Chinyere explained that the man’s family background remains unknown and that he depends on full time support for feeding, bathing and other basic needs.

To support the couple, the cleric announced a financial package, including ₦10 million, a house and an overseas vacation. He said the arrangement was aimed at providing companionship and long term care for the young man.

The initial proposal, however, drew criticism from members of the public, with many describing it as inappropriate and demeaning to women. In response, the pastor later apologised, stating that he “can never degrade any woman.”

In an update shared on Sunday, Chinyere posted photos from the wedding on Facebook, expressing optimism about the union and the future of the groom.

“Aboy Chibuzor finally marries today, March 29, 2026. A single woman of God. ₦10 million wedding gift, free house, overseas vacation, and ₦20 million after 10 years if Aboy is still alive, with more gifts to come,” he wrote.

He added that members of the church also contributed financially, with donations of ₦1 million and ₦200,000.

Chinyere further claimed that improvements had already been observed in the groom’s condition.

“Miracle has already started as Aboy is now feeding himself without assistance. I believe before six months God will heal him and he will begin to speak. There is nothing God cannot do,” he said.
