In a swift development, CP Peter Opara, who was appointed as Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) less than a week ago, has been redeployed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun. Opara, initially appointed on September 14, 2024, by the Police Service Commission (PSC), will now assume duties in Delta State.
Alongside Opara’s reassignment, the IGP also redeployed CP Tunji Disu from Rivers State and CP Abaniwonda Olufemi from Delta State. CP Disu has now been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for the FCT, while CP Olufemi will take over the Rivers State Command. These changes are effective immediately.
In addition to these key appointments, four other police commissioners have been posted to various state commands. CP Danladi Nda has been assigned to Abia State, CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale to Lagos State, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya to Ebonyi State, and CP Festus Eribo to Akwa Ibom State.
The reassignments are part of the IGP’s broader initiative to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force’s operational efficiency, with the full endorsement of the PSC. The newly appointed commissioners have been tasked with implementing security reforms and devising innovative strategies to combat crime in their respective jurisdictions.
